Cathryn is leaving for Purdue on August 22 to study animal science (pre-veterinary).  She graduated #1 in her class in May and received the Presidential Scholarship and an Academic Excellence scholarship from Purdue.  She is also a Dean’s Scholar and will be living in the Ag Honors Learning Community.

She is showing the dairy goats at the KY state fair her last few days at home and leaving directly from there.  I will take her to Purdue Saturday after the sr. doe show and then come back Sunday to pick up the goats from the fair.  I’m not looking forward to the drive back all alone.

The school I have been working for has run into serious financial trouble and cannot pay the rest of my contract, so I am going to be staying home next year and starting a herdshare program.

Cathryn and Jasper getting ready for the regency ball

Graduation

This is Jasper, Cathryn’s boyfriend.  They have been dating since Christmas day when they went to a movie.  We met him at a Christmas party at the Jonas family’s homestead, they went to a movie on Christmas day, and they have been together since.

Cathryn and Jasper attended the regency ball which was a part of the Jane Austen festival held by the local chapter of the Jane Austen society.

Cathryn and I had fun designing and making her gown together, and Cathryn also made Jasper’s waistcoat and shirt.  I had the coat and pants from a previous ball.  This is probably my favorite regency gown ever.  The bodice is pintucked across the front panel and slanted slightly in a V.
